A sleepy little town not far from the Gulf of Carpentaria, there's not much there any more except the Gulflander railway that used to run to Croydon in the goldrush days. There is also a purple pub and an 8m long fibre glass model of Krys the crocodile who someone killed a while ago. We also visited Karumba which is a prawn fishing port on the gulf. There's nothing to see there at all really unless you're into fishing, we went so we could say we've been and dipped our toes in the water.

Accommodation - Normanton Motel and Caravan park. Very basic but the portaloo style toilet blocks were brand new so very clean.
