Mataranka

Claim to fame, they have a hot spring that puts out 35 millions litres of warm water a day. During W.W.II the soldiers stationed here made the pool deeper and dammed the stream so they had a hot bath, now it's a nature reserve and a tourist attraction. The water smells a bit funny, like a compost heap I think but it's clear and at 34°C it's like a communal bath. As the stream flows through it quite quickly it's not as disgusting as you would think.

Accommodation - Mataranka homestead CP. A bit naff really. They had run out of powered sites by the time we got there, the facilities blocks were old and scummy, not very pleasant.
