Darwin

Darwin is a lot nicer than I had imagined. It's a very modern city, well town sized if you're from anywhere else, about the same size as Crawley. It's clean, the buses services work on time etc. We went to the tourist info place and asked for some walks, they gave us a whole heap of them, we did a few, they're OK. We also went to Doctors gully to feed the fish at high tide, I think it's their biggest tourist attraction and it really is worth a visit just to have a milkfish try and suck the end of your finger off. We also went to the botanical gardens which were OK. Mindl beach market on Thursday nights is excellent. Lot's of Hawker food stalls, craft stalls and live entertainment.

Accommodating - We stayed at Shady Glenn CP. We weren't going to because our edition of the LP slates it, mainly for the crap toilets. Someone told Dad that it had all been renovated though and was really handy for the town, the bus stop is right outside. The facilities blocks have all been done up and are really nice, the problems are the plots which are really cramped and the airports. There's the international airport not far down the road and a flight goes over every so often, most noise however comes from the RAAF airstrip just over the road, especially at night when the F-15's are doing there night flights, the ground shakes as they take off.
