Daly Waters

Yet another stop off on the way up the track. This one's claim to fame is having the oldest pub in the Northern Territory. It used to be quite a busy place apparently, it was one of the stop off airports for the long distance flights, i.e. London - Sydney, before they invented planes that could go all the way by themselves. The pub has character, it's a bit ramshackle inside with a mixture of old memorabilia ranging from beer mats to old flying doctor emergency radios to old underwear. They do a beef and barra (barramundi) barbie every night, the portions were enormous, the steak was the size of a dinner plate. The entertainment was rubbish, just a couple of doddering old chancers, have a read of the diary for more.

Accommodation - Stayed on the pubs campsite so we didn't have far to walk! It was a chaotic place with little organisation and portaloo style toilet facilities, at least they were clean and the water was hot.
