Puno

A really grubby little town on the edge of Lake Titicaca. The pedestrianised area of the centre is OK, other than that it's dirty, run down and horrible. The harbour has had so much pollution dumped it that you can't see the water anymore due to the algae that's grown and covers the surface. The main reason for coming here is to visit the Uros floating reed islands, although if you have the time there is plenty more to see.. They are quite commercialised but still very interesting, best place to book a tour is Allways Travel.

Accommodation - Los Uros, 20 Sols/night, breakfast was extra. The hot water is only on at certain times of the day but that wasn't in any way inconvenient. The room was OK, they provide lots of blankets to keep the cold out and the bathroom was clean. Don't use them to book a tour or bus tickets though, they are helpful and friendly but you do pay a lot for the service.
