Heart of the wine region. A nice city with some nice restaurants in the centre, the beggars are a bit annoying but they go away if you ignore them. The park next to the city is the same size as it and is worth walking around. There is a large boating lake and the monument to General San Martin on top of the hill makes it worth the climb. The wine is fantastic.

Accommodation - Hotel Galicia, the LP and SA Handbook both say it's gloomy but as it was close to the bus station we had a look. It was OK, the rooms we saw had no windows, which I guess is where the gloomy comes from, but they where large. Ours was a 6 bed (2 double, 2 single) with private bath and cable TV, breakfast was included.
