We wanted to break up the long drive from Airlie Beach to Hervey Bay with another stop and chose this place as it has Great Keppel Island just off the coast. It was dead, there was nobody there, well that's what it seemed like at night, too quiet! We did go up the road to play golf at Rydges Resort, it was unbelievably good, if they had that type of service in England people wouldn't have to come abroad. We went on a day trip to Great Keppel Island, it was quite cheap on the ferry. There beaches there are excellent, the same as Whitehaven Beach, we tried wakeboarding it was only $50 for a 20 min lesson.

Accommodation - We stayed in a council run park right on the beach, it was good for $16/night. It was 1km out of town but that only took 5 mins to walk.
