Hin Ta & Hin Yai (Grand Father & Grand Mother Rocks)

Very phallic, you can see the pictures in the gallery, although we couldn't see the grand mother rocks because the tide was in, lets just say it's of a part of the female anatomy not normally shown in The Sun. Anyway the story goes something like this. There was this couple and there son was getting on a bit so they thought they would sort him out a wife. They hop in they're boat and head off for the next island to see the chief and have a word about his daughter. On the way they hit a storm, the boat sinks and they drown but someone or other (not sure who it didn't say, some god probably) sets them in stone on the edge of the island to show the princess that their intentions were honourable.

I have a few problems with this story, nice though it is.

1 - How would the princess even know to look at the rocks if they never made it to the island in the first place.

2 - In what way does a 20ft stone willy indicate honourable intentions?

Local myths, don't you just love 'em.

Accommodation. We stayed at Marine Bungalows on the north end of Chewang beach. It's quieter at this end and cheaper as well apparently as it's slightly away from the main bit. Our bungalow was big but we could have done with aircon instead of a fan. We paid too much as well, 700b a night, that's what you get for booking it through a travel agent. There was no hot water and the cold shower really was very cold, the sink wasn't fixed to the wall either as Shirley found out when she dropped it.
