Melaka

Not as nice as we had expected, certainly not as good as Georgetown. We managed to see most of the sights in one day by walking around. We found the tourist information office but it wasn't as helpful, there is a heritage walk the same as Georgetown but we didn't find that out until after we had started our own. The river is very polluted but you can still sit by it in some restaurants and watch the goo drift past. I found the locals to be ruder (mostly the teenagers) than anywhere we have been in SE Asia, they stare at me or Shirley, mainly me, to the point where there eyes must start to water, we can't be that strange looking. The shopping mall's aren't as good here either, there's not as much in them.

Accommodation - We stayed in the May Chiang hotel, again it was the first one we came to. It is really nice, the room was a little small but it is very clean and not at all run down. We looked at the other hotels we had chosen, the Valient and the Gold Leaf, and they both look a bit run down. We paid RM40/night for our room with aircon and bathroom.
