Along the river it is quite bearable, there is a road to start with. Away from there it is run down, the roads are broken and it is dirty.

Accommodation: We stayed in the Indochine Hotel on the river front, it seems to have been a good choice location wise but there may be better options. There are lots of hotels along the road. Ours was ok though for $12/night and the staff are very friendly.
