Small village in the shadow of Mount Ruapehu. It's just a small ski town really although they must have some trade in the summer from people walking in the national park. It was sort of in between times when we were there so it was really quiet. We did one of the walks to a waterfall which was nice, excellent place for lunch on a nice day, we also drove up to the ski fields which were closed but the view was good.

Accommodation - Ohakune Top 10 Park. Nice, handy for the town, but cold. The spa is only a large bath tub with water jets.
